Battery

Manufacturer figures for the 650 mAh battery, in its reporting mode 3:

ReportsBetween charges
Once an hourOur Daily modeabout 18 days
Every 6 hoursabout 98 days
Once a dayabout 365 days

These are the manufacturer’s figures, not our measurements. Walk mode (every 2 minutes) and Lost mode (every 10 seconds) report far more often and use much more battery.

How it works

  1. 01

    Finds its position

The collar works out where it is with GPS, and can also see nearby Wi-Fi networks and mobile towers.

  2. 02

    Reports on its own

It sends the report over LTE-M with its own SIM. No phone needs to be nearby.

  3. 03

    Our system checks it

Our server in Auckland receives the report. Our analysis checks it for boundary crossings, gaps in reporting and battery level.

  4. 04

    Your phone shows it

You see the map and route in the app, and get an alert when something needs your attention.

In the app

Live location

See where your dog is on a map, with the collar’s battery level alongside.

Boundary alerts

Draw a boundary around home. Your phone tells you when your dog crosses it.

Still-out alerts

If your dog is still outside the boundary after a time you choose, you’re told again.

Silent-collar alerts

If nothing has come in from the collar for a while — flat, switched off or out of coverage — you’ll know.

Route history

Replay where your dog went, day or night — including the trips you never knew about.

Share location

Send your dog’s current location to a neighbour or family member.

Three reporting modes

Daily reports once an hour to save battery. Walk reports every 2 minutes. Lost reports every 10 seconds. Switch in the app.
